  • The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a USER ACCESS ASSOCIATE to staff the HUB Service Desks at Sterne and Lister Hill Libraries and to provide services to all library users, in person and remotely, including nights and weekends. To manage accessibility and physical condition of library collections. To collect and compile statistics and prepare reports as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists patrons with ready-reference and directional questions and inquiries about the libraries and services.

  2. Create and manage patron records; monitor records for library materials to allow for circulation; process guest accounts for community members using the library.

  3. Provide clear and effective customer service to all library users.

  4. Comfortability with leading shifts and directing Student Assistants.

  5. Collect and compile statistics requested by the library.

  6. Identify and report building and loanable material issues.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

  8. Actively engage in staff professional development opportunities.

  9. Ensure library public spaces are clean and organized at all times.

(Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $16.82)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Outlook). Adept with technology, both common and specialized. Preferred Additional Qualifications: A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a Customer Service field and a knowledge of library services, operation, and of library collections.
