Head of Circulation/Outreach Services

**Core job functions include: **

• Sets long and short-range goals, objectives and priorities for the department.

• Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff for the department.

• Participates in planning of department budget and develops written procedures for department.  Reports monthly to Library Director regarding departmental progress.

• Serves as Librarian-In-Charge, as assigned.

• Serves patrons at the checkout and registration desk. Performs all Circulation Assistant and Circulation Associate duties.

• Resolves difficult issues and situations with patrons and/or materials.

• Coordinates department schedule and ensures part time hours do not exceed budgeted amount.

• Maintains the integrity and accuracy of records in the patron database.

• Maintains records on overdue and delinquent accounts, and refers accounts to collection agency (or police) as necessary

• Coordinates, plans, schedules, and oversees implementation of programs and services. 

• Coordinates and edits content for village and library newsletter.

• Responsible for all activities involving the circulation of materials and related services, patron registration, record-keeping, and collection of library revenue. 

• Develops library outreach programs. Acts as a library representative to the community through local groups and by making school visits.

• Serves as a passport agent.

• Works closely with the Library Director to develop an annual plan of library objectives and activities for community relations based on the Library’s goals and objectives

**Required qualifications:   **

• Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

• Three years of public library experience required.

• Three years of supervisory experience required.

• Proficiency in the use of personal computer technologies, including desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones, and Internet applications. 

• Experience with digital media software and familiarity with Windows, Android, Apple, and mobile platforms/environments.
