  • Description The Visiting Instruction and Reference Librarian provides support for the library's educational and research offerings to the HWS community by conducting library instruction sessions, creating online tutorials and teaching resources, and helping to assess the library's impact on student learning. This position will also provide reference services by responding to reference email queries, monitoring chat, and providing research and reference services. This is a temporary position with appointment slated to begin as soon as possible.

**Duties Include but are not limited to:**Prepare and teach one-shot, library information literacy library sessions at all levels and disciplines depending on faculty and student learning needs.

  • Create and update research guides (Springshare LibGuides).
  • Provide in-person and online (e.g. chat, Zoom) research and reference services, including individual and small group research consultations.
  • Assist with student and faculty library research requests.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with library staff and the campus community.
  • Perform other related duties as required.Other Information:

This is a full-time, temporary position. The position is located in Geneva, NY. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary is $58,458.40.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

ALA accredited MLIS or equivalent educational experience in a related field.

Demonstrated knowledge of, or experience with, providing research/reference services, information literacy instruction, and/or outreach services.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive and productive collaborations with students, faculty, and library colleagues.

Self-motivated, dependable, and reliable.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Ability to work both independently as well as collegially and productively in a team environment.

The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.

Some experience teaching at a college or university

Familiarity with Springshare products (e.g. LibGuides, LibAnswers)
