The Northlake Public Library District is seeking a team member who is dedicated to excellence in service and is passionate about serving teens and adults in a diverse community.

Duties: This position will be primarily responsible for assisting teens, as well as adults and educators in locating information and recommending reading choices in a variety of formats; developing our Teen Fiction, Graphic Novel, Anime, and Video Game collections; and providing assistance/instruction in use of online, digital and internet resources in one-on-one or group situations. Serves on the reference desk, plans teen programs, involved in teen outreach, and oversees our teen volunteering program. Other duties may be assigned in response to the needs of the department.

The ideal candidate will be an outgoing positive self-starter with experience in prioritizing a variety of tasks, able to immediately be able to step into a fast paced environment and is eager to cooperate with team members to support the library's mission.

Required Education & Experience:

  • ALA accredited master’s degree in Library Science, or currently enrolled in program
  • Knowledge of Teen lit, media, and pop culture trends.
  • Superior customer service skills. Positive attitude.
  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Preference for bilingual abilities (Spanish)
