The Waukegan Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teen Librarian to join our growing team. In this newly created role, you will provide library services to youth, teens, and families in our Youth and Teen Services Department, with a focus on tweens/teens in grades 6-12. You will also develop and present programs, participate in outreach activities, and promote the collection through readers’ advisory and displays. WPL is in the midst of an exciting 3-year strategic plan with action steps that include the creation of a Makerspace and dedicated teen space, website redesign, robust cultural and arts programming, and initiatives to increase school outreach, tween/teen services, and community partnerships that enhance the lives of our diverse community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with middle and high schoolers in a public library setting and a background in working with youth and teens. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that includes 95% employer paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee, 100% employer paid life insurance at 1x annual salary, and IMRF retirement pension participation. Qualified candidates will have: •    An MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution  •    A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a public library in a patron-facing role, including at least 1 year of experience working with youth or teens •    The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends •    Spanish language skills a plus
