Come work at a beautiful small Library located along the Fox River, near I-88.    We have a positive and productive staff of 26  and serve a community under 20,000.     Our patron base loves the Library, and our community values the staff, resources, and facility.   We are very stable in our present, and moving toward building adaptations for growth and accessibility.

Description:

The Technology Coordinator reports to the Library Director and works collaboratively with both Adult, Circulation, and Youth Services to support IT infrastructure and digital services.    This position will facilitate and service the network and technology of the Library and provide IT support to both internal users and patrons while coordinating technology services, instruction, and resources.     

Essential Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining a company's technological equipment, such as computers, tablets, and smartphones

  • Ensuring that company devices interconnect with file servers, email servers, and financial systems seamlessly, serving as a network administrator.  Performing backups and restoring lost data as needed

  • Installing, upgrading, and managing software and hardware on company devices. 

  • Serves as key administration point for SWAN and RAILS technical needs and requirements 

  • Develop digital and maker space services, aiding patrons and staff on resources and technology.  Create effective programming to enhance knowledge and promote the utilization of equipment and resources  

  • Managing all software licensing and recommending hardware and software purchases, maintaining an inventory of all company electronic assets

  • Providing staff and patrons with training on how to use hardware, software, and cloud-based services.  Provides technology classes on relevant topics to enhance patron knowledge

  • Assist with webpage content and updating, assist with social media

  • Reference desk service as assigned departmentally

  • Understands and enforces library policy, and follows library procedures, while safeguarding confidential and restricted information 

  • Maintains awareness of behavior and conduct of library users in order to assist management in providing a safe and welcoming library environment

  • Knowledge of basic services in Circulation, Youth, and Technical Services Departments, and the ability to assist in other departments as needed

  • May serve as Person in Charge as needed in the absence of the library administrator and department managers 

  • Deliver in-person, phone and email access services

  • Create and contribute to statistical and organizational reports

  • Contribute and assist other library departments and library-wide committees as needed

  • Pursue up-to-date exploration of library principles and best practices through participation in a wide range of learning opportunities 

**Qualifications: **

  • MLIS/MLS or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer technology, or a similar field

  • At least two years of experience as an IT coordinator or related role

  • Expertise in IT tools and concepts, such as operating systems and internet protocol suites. Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations

  • Expertise in configuring and managing Apple iOS and Android devices

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel

  • Program planning experience, or ability to create instructional components for patron programs

**Additional Requirements: **

  • Able to work nights and weekends to suit the operational needs of the library

  • Adequate and reliable transportation

  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, stoop, squat and lift to move physical materials up to 25 lbs. 

  • Essential communication skills
