Description

Nelson University exists to equip students spiritually, academically, professionally, and cross-culturally for their God-given careers and callings. The Technical Services Librarian must be skilled and proficient in the organization of information, use of technology, performing research, and inputting data. The librarian should also have good communication skills in dealing with students, staff, and the general public. The Technical Services Librarian reports to the Director of Library Services. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. 



Requirements

  • Assists with cataloging physical & digital resources
  • Collaborates with other librarians concerning library processes
  • Helps provide projects for Assistant Librarians
  • Assists in preservation of library archives as needed
  • Assists Director in website development and maintenance as needed
  • Runs usage/statistical reports periodically
  • Answers reference questions
  • Assists with information literacy classes
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with professionalism
  • Serves the students, faculty, and other library staff in a spirit of cooperation
  • Participates in library staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

  • MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited university preferred
  • Working knowledge of OCLC, WorldCat, Dewey, and standard cataloging rules and practices
  • Experience in Library applications, such as: Springshare (LibApps, LibGuides, LibCal), WorldShare, OverDrive, and Access It
  • Experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace
  • Able to navigate databases for research
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to learn
