The Technical Services Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting the Technical Services Librarian with electronic and physical library acquisitions, cataloging, data entry, office management, and other library projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or equivalent (60 college credit hours); or High School diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical and general office experience
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Knowledge of general office equipment, such as scanner, copier, and multi-line telephone
  • Computer literacy to include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Demonstrated understanding of MARC records and Library of Congress Classification
  • One year of library experience, with demonstrated experience using Library software (SirsiDynix, Ex Libris Alma, Polaris, etc.)
  • Technical library experience or data entry experienceEssential Functions
  • Verifies bibliographic information on book titles before ordering
  • Prepares book orders, verifies book deliveries against invoices, and maintains records of book acquisitions
  • Searches catalog records in bibliographic database
  • Performs descriptive cataloging using library applications software and assists with OCLC reports
  • Processes physical volumes and performs minor repairs as needed
  • Assists Technical Services Librarian with all major projects
  • Expected to work some evenings, and as needed, weekend hours
  • Cross-train with other library departments to provide library services as needed

Min Salary: $22.33 per hour

Max Salary: $22.67 per hour
