Skokie Public Library and Dominican University SOIS 2025-2026 Internship Program

Looking to gain hands-on library experience before you graduate? Join Skokie Public Library for an immersive learning opportunity that will jumpstart your career. 

• Timeframe: September 2025 through April 2026  
• Schedule: 10-15 hours/week (flexible schedule TBD with library mentor) 
• Compensation: $15/hour and tuition credit/waiver for Fall Practicum (LIS 799) and Spring Independent Study (LIS 801) 
• **Structure: **
  • Several students will experience the program as a cohort.   Each student will be paired with a mentor from the library. 

Regular reflection meetings will be held with mentors and faculty advisors. 

• **Focus Areas: **

  • Access Services – Collection development, cataloging, digitization 

  • Public Services – Programming, advisory, experiential learning, and information services, with options to focus on youth, teens, or adults. 

  • Community Engagement – Outreach and partnerships with options to focus on youth or adults.
