NDSU Libraries is looking for a Scholarly Communications and Institutional Repository Librarian to join our team! This individual will provide leadership and direction in support of the Libraries' institutional repository and scholarly communications areas, as well as engaging in liaison work for one or more academic departments. This position is located within the Research & Engagement department. As a member of the division of Research and Engagement, the SC & IR Librarian will serve as the Libraries' expert on scholarly communication, manage, develop, and promote the institutional repository, and work collaboratively with the Research and Engagement team to serve the students, faculty, and staff of NDSU. This position will consult with and create education and outreach materials for a range of constituencies on topics such as: academic publishing, intellectual property and author rights, copyright, fair use, open access (OA), and open scholarship initiatives such as open pedagogy and open educational resources (OER). The Scholarly Communications and Institutional Repository Librarian is assigned the following areas: Education, and Government Documents/TBD.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

Advertised Salary: $58,000+/year depending on experience and qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Accredited ALA or international equivalent MLS, MLIS, MSIS or MS; ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science.

  • Experience providing library instruction in person or online, or experience with both.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in one or more areas of scholarly communications and institutional repositories.

  • Experience working in an academic library or research setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with academic colleges, departments, faculty, staff, and students to engage, provide support to, teach, and motivate students.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the library as an academic support unit.

  • Demonstrated ability to create a library environment that is welcoming and inclusive.

  • Experience working with under-represented populations.

  • Experience creating and implementing programs and services.

  • Experience developing/delivering instruction in an academic library environment.

  • Flexibility, resilience, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others in an environment committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

  • Knowledge of current trends and challenges facing research libraries, researchers, technology, and higher education.

  • Experience with repository software such as DSpace, CONTENTdm, Digital Commons, etc.

  • Knowledge of metadata schemas and standards and best practices for institutional repositories.

  • Proficiency with copyright, intellectual property, and fair use issues, open access, and open educational resources.
