Description
The Carroll and Madison Library System (CAMALS) is seeking a full-time Regional Library Director to plan, direct, and coordinate all activities of the CAMALS regional office to best serve the needs of the member libraries, their communities, and our two counties.
CAMALS serves six small, rural public libraries located in Carroll and Madison counties in northwest Arkansas. CAMALS regional office staff members are considered employees of Carroll County, Arkansas, with employee benefits provided by Carroll County including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, short-term disability insurance, APERS Retirement (Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System), ten paid holidays, and vacation and sick leave. Principal Responsibilities
1. Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities of the Carroll and Madison Library System (CAMALS) regional office to best serve the needs of the member libraries, their communities, and our two counties.
2. Communicate regularly with all key internal and external stakeholders, including the directors of member libraries, member county library boards, CAMALS Board, and elected county officials.
3. Manage and maintain the systemwide technology resources needed to provide high-quality library services.
4. Report to the CAMALS Board on system operations, finances, statistics, and services.
5. Research and recommend new platforms or software solutions to optimize the system’s technology resources and services.
6. Budget and administer system funds and assets, including state aid. Prepare all necessary financial reports and oversee any audits required to document the use of state and local tax funds. Prepare an initial draft of the annual budget.
7. Seek out other revenue sources.
8. Promote awareness of the value and reach of library services across our two counties.
9. Assist member libraries in setting strategic goals.
10. Hire and supervise regional library system personnel.
11. Serve as primary liaison and secretary to the CAMALS Board.
12. Represent CAMALS at all member county library board meetings.
13. Advise member libraries on personnel, library operations, building projects, collection development, and special programs as possible.
14. Ensure delivery of interlibrary books.
15. Perform other duties as requested by the CAMALS Board for the orderly and efficient administration of the system.
Requirements
Requirements
1. A master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited library school.
2. OR a bachelor’s degree and willingness to get a master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited library school with completion in three (3) years.
3. Progressively responsible professional library experience, including at minimum three (3) years of supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
4. Valid driver’s license.
5. Reliable transportation.
Special Skills
1. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff as well as public and private agencies and organizations.
2. Extensive knowledge of library principles, practices, methods, materials, and equipment.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise library operations, analyze data, evaluate programs, prepare clear and concise reports, and present speeches.
4. Knowledge of Atriuum ILS software, other integrated library system (ILS) platforms, QuickBooks, and WordPress is desirable.
