PT Youth Services Assistant

Do you love to inspire kids to read? Do bubbles make you dance? Does Storytime make you smile? The Youth Services department at Des Plaines Public Library is looking for a creative and organized individual to join our team as a part-time Library Assistant!

Des Plaines Public Library is a five-star library serving a diverse, active, and growing community.  We are seeking someone with experience working with children of all ages, knowledge of current children’s literature and trends, a friendly and generous approach to customer service, strong communication skills, and a desire to use their enthusiasm and imagination to bring something special to the team. Speaking Polish, Russian, Ukranian, or Spanish is a plus.

Minimum qualifications

1. Bachelors Degree.

2. One year experience working with children. Library experience working with children preferred.

3. Available to work evenings and weekends.

Or

1. Two years college.

Hours

This is a part-time, non-exempt, 15-hour position. Every other Sunday 1-5 pm, Monday 9 am-4:30 pm, Wednesdays 12:30-9 pm*

*Total hours each week will be 15.  On weeks that include a Sunday shift, 12:30-9 shift with be 5-9 pm

Salary

$18.19 per hour. This position includes paid time off.
