Orland Park Public Library is a vibrant community hub dedicated to providing access to information, education, and entertainment. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Patron Services Library Clerk. Responsibilities

  • Arrange library materials, including books, magazines, DVDs, and other items, in their designated locations according to the library's classification system

  • Ensure that materials are shelved accurately and efficiently to facilitate easy retrieval by library users

  • Maintain the overall organization of library shelves by regularly checking for misplaced items and rearranging materials as needed

  • Collaborate with library staff to identify and address any issues related to the organization of the collection

  • Report damaged or missing materials to appropriate library personnel for further action

**Necessary Knowledge **

  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Possess basic computer skills

  • Follow tasks to completion

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends

Library hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. 15 hours per week, plus weekend rotation.  Schedule may include daytime and/or evening hours.  Starting salary is $15.40 per hour.
