Job Title: Part-Time Library Outreach Coordinator

Location: Brookline Public Library, Brookline, NH 

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, including weekdays, some evenings, and Saturdays. 

Salary: $18/hour

Position Summary: The town of Brookline, New Hampshire (5,800 pop), with its unique blend of rural charm and vibrant community, is seeking a new library team member. We are looking for a part-time Library Programming Coordinator, up to 20 hours/week. Hours include a combination of weekdays, some evenings, and Saturdays. A positive attitude, a creative mind and a sense of humor are vital in this role. 

The Library Outreach Coordinator has a working knowledge of the library, creates, and produces programming, and performs a variety of marketing duties promoting and publicizing Library events, news, programs, and services. Brookline Public Library staff work in a team-oriented environment and, under the supervision of the Library Director, are responsible for assisting with library circulation, reference, readers’ advisory, collection promotion, programming, in both adult and youth service areas.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Identify methods and create materials to advertise library services, programs and reach new users.  Updating of BPL website Moderating and posting to BPL social media accounts Create displays, exhibits, website updates, press releases and printed materials. In cooperation with Library staff, organizes and implements a variety of adult programs and special events. Create and maintain a database of news outlets to utilize for library publicity.  Submit press releases and produce and place ad materials.  Produce adult programming including take-and-makes, crafts, author visits, and educational speakers. Obtaining outside funding for programs, as needed and available  Deliver excellent customer service for all visitors to the library. Performs other duties as required. Additional tasks may include: Staff the circulation desk and perform circulation functions including checking items in/out, reserving and renewing materials, collecting fees, and maintaining patron records. Assist patrons with use of library services and equipment. Answer phone inquiries and make patron notification calls.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to deal courteously and efficiently with a diverse population of library patrons. Knowledge of adult programming needs  Excellent general office, computer, and technology skills including working in a Windows environment, familiarity with Web browsers and Microsoft software, and experience with any ILS software and with common social media platforms.  Able to plan effectively and complete time-sensitive tasks with frequent interruptions. Capacity to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team Effective written and spoken communication skills, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Available to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Physically able to carry/lift up to 35lbs, bend low and reach high to shelve books, and push a library cart.

Education, Experience and Training:

Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, or Library Science preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing related field, with 1 years’ experience in websites, required, including experience with desktop publishing programs. Familiarity with library programs for adults, including multicultural programs, is desired. To Apply:
