Outreach Assistant

The Town & Country Public Library District serves the quaint and friendly community of Elburn, IL and the surrounding area. We are seeking a creative, innovative, and energetic Outreach Assistant.

The Outreach Assistant, under the supervision of the Adult Services Manager and working alongside the Outreach Coordinator, is responsible for: 

• Identifying and recommending appropriate library materials for patrons based on their needs and interests

• Assisting the Outreach Coordinator with delivering library materials to patrons’ homes using personal vehicle

• Assisting the Outreach Coordinator in providing off-site entertainment and educational opportunities for outreach patrons

• Helping develop effective partnerships with community organizations

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)

• Valid Illinois driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle required

• LTA or previous library experience preferred, especially in outreach, readers’ advisory, or programming

• Background in social work or other related field preferred

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
