We’re looking for a Marketing & Outreach Manager to help tell our unique story, elevate our visibility, and strengthen connections by driving efforts to raise awareness of the library’s services, programs, and events, positioning the library as a vibrant community hub.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role leads marketing and outreach efforts to position the library as a vibrant hub of community life. The successful candidate will develop and implement strategic marketing initiatives, manage public relations, oversee branding, and build relationships with local organizations. This position involves active engagement at community events, festivals, and outreach programs. The Marketing & Outreach Manager will manage a small team while coordinating input from various library departments.

This is an active, on-the-go position that involves regular travel to various locations, including multiple library sites, events, and partner sites. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and deploy our book bikes for outreach. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, connector, and people lover who can amplify the library’s impact in Hoboken and beyond. This position requires occasional evening and weekend availability to actively engage with the community. The schedule is based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing & Public Relations

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that enhances the library’s visibility and reputation.  
  • Spearhead marketing efforts aimed at both engaging existing library cardholders and attracting new members, employing a unified content approach and innovative strategies while implementing specific metrics to evaluate results.
  • Create and manage content for social media, website, newsletters, and print and digital materials.
  • Design promotional graphics, videos, and other multimedia content.
  • Write press releases, cultivate media relationships, and serve as a library spokesperson when needed.
  • Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Monitor campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Explore innovative ways to engage new audiences. 

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual Library Festival and other library programs.
  • Represent the library at community events and other locations.
  • Plan and execute pop-up library services at schools, businesses, and public spaces.
  • Manage and deploy the library’s book bikes for outreach activities.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, corporations, and community organizations.
  • Actively engage with community stakeholders to identify needs, gather feedback, and enhance library offerings.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (education, experience and certifications) **

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience in marketing, communications or public relations, preferably in nonprofits or community focused organizations. 
  • Supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in advertising, PR, or community outreach.
  • Fluency in a language other than English (Spanish preferred).
  • Familiarity with Hoboken’s community, businesses, and organizations.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, sponsorships, or corporate partnerships.
