Maintenance Assistant

Arlington Heights Memorial Library is seeking a reliable, customer service oriented individual to clean and maintain the library buildings and property for multiple locations including cleaning/disinfecting, snow removal and room/program set up. 

Job Description

• Perform janitorial functions such as cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, etc. Regularly check rest rooms and maintain cleanliness.
• Perform light and routine maintenance work including light bulbs, ballast replacement, room set-ups, and minor repairs. Use snowplow/blower as directed.
• Assist by providing manual labor in other maintenance, remodeling or construction projects as directed. May troubleshoot library’s mechanical systems and reset or restart systems as directed due to outages.

Requirements & Skills

• Mechanical and/or cleaning aptitude preferred.
• Ability to work independently with little/no direction.
• Current valid Driver’s License & driving record in good standing.
• Ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA.

Physical Requirements

• Stands and walks for majority of shift

• Use/operate hand tools and equipment

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs

• Climb ladders up to 20ft

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

• May drive library vehicle

**Education: **High school diploma or equivalency and related work experience preferred. 

**Hours and Scheduling: **Part-time, 20 hours/week; Monday & Tuesday 2:30 - 9:00 pm, every other Friday 2:30 - 9:00 pm, every other Sunday 12:00 - 9:00 pm.
