Reporting to the Chair of the CDM department, the Linked Data Librarian will respond to the rapid developments in metadata and web technologies and the transition to the semantic web through linked data. The successful candidate will work to leverage the potential of linked data to expand web-based discovery of the library’s resources and address the conceptual, technical, creative, and management aspects of linked data.

CDM currently participates in cataloging activities and national cooperatives that have global reach. The Linked Data Librarian will work closely with colleagues to continue and expand these efforts through linked data initiatives such as transforming existing library data, implementing technologies, and contributing to data repositories through authorities/identities creation. Using linked data standards, such as RDF, JSON, BIBFRAME, and SPARQL, the Linked Data Librarian will permit library data to be exposed, queried, and discovered via the open web. Linked Data requires regular updating to provide the most accurate and current information about collections. The successful candidate will maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments related to linked data; spearhead opportunities to collaborate with others in the library and on campus; develop documentation; and create and manage authorities/identities. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to monitor developments and build expertise in the library services platform (FOLIO).
