  • This position assists the Librarians of the Special Collections with the operation of the unit by providing occasional reference support, reading room supervision, monitoring and maintaining of stacks, para-professional work in preservation, digitization, and outreach, and oversight of undergraduate workers in the absence of librarians. Supports instruction sessions. Key Job Duties:Reference support in person and through digital requests.
  • Supporting instruction sessions and proctoring classes.
  • Independent supervision of patron usage of archives and special collections in the reading room.
  • Tracking usage of materials through the online catalog. This position is responsible for reporting departmental statistics to the MU Libraries public services database.Shift

For Spring 2025, the Libraries seek to fill a 28-hour schedule, as follows: Mon-Thu 10:00am-3:30pm and Friday 10:00am-4:00pm. Scheduled hours will return to 20-hours per week. The schedule details will vary based on departmental needs, but will typically be scheduled Mon-Fri during daytime hours.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of library classification systems, including Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress.
  • Higher education coursework in the areas of library science, humanities, or social sciences.Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary: $14.51 per hour
