Description

 The Beaumont Library District Board of Trustees seeks a consensus-building and community-oriented leader to be the organization's next Library Director. This individual will guide Beaumont Library District into the future by continuing to embrace a diverse and growing population and offering relevant and first-rate spaces, collections, programs, and services to our community.

The new Director will focus attention on Beaumont Library’s renovation and expansion project, build upon a solid history of community engagement with stakeholders, help envision and implement a strategic plan, and ensure that the library is a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all members of the community.

The Director reports to a five-member elected Board of Trustees which sets policy, oversees finances, and advocates for the library. Beaumont Library is a California special district located in Riverside County. It is independent of city and county government and serves more than 65,000 residents over a 60-square-mile district that is 70 miles east of Los Angeles and 30 miles west of Palm Springs.

Responsibilities: The Library Director supervises a workforce of eight full-time and fifteen part-time employees while overseeing staff development, training, and evaluation; provides regular reports to the Board of Trustees; maintains open lines of communication with city and county government officials; participates in community organizations; fosters excellent relations with Friends of Beaumont Library District; carries out Board policy; writes grants and monitors grant reporting; oversees finances; and controls budgetary expenditures. The Director administers library operations, facilities maintenance, and construction projects; and is active professionally, stays apprised of library trends, and implements new technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications: Applicants are required to have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible public library work experience showing a consistent pattern of growth that includes at least seven years in supervisory and administrative capacities. Qualified candidates must possess an ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information science, possesses a current California driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Compensation: The hiring salary range is $150,000 – $157,000 with an excellent benefits package, including participation in CalPERS, paid health insurance, and an HRA plan.
