Library Director 1

The Wead Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Director 1. The library is an active community center serving a vibrant, rural and school community. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Library Director 1 is responsible for overseeing all aspects of library operations.

The ideal candidate will be a community leader- building relationships with community groups, employees, patrons and the Board of Trustees.  Candidates should feel comfortable initiating and executing capital projects.

** Responsibilities:**

The Library Director 1 is responsible for all library functions, implementing library policies and supervision of personnel.  This may be the only professional position in the library. Supervision is exercised over other library personnel. Duties include, but are not limited to developing library budget, administering the expenditure of library funds, preparing state, local and other statistical, narrative or financial reports, supervising maintenance of library property, consulting with the Business Administrator of Malone Central Schools, and developing long range plans for library service and evaluating the effectiveness of services and programs in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.

** Qualifications:**

A Master’s Degree in Librarianship from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable education practices and a minimum of two (2) years professional library experience. 

** Special Requirements:**

Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate at time of application. Possession of the certificate at time of appointment. (Copy of NYS Public Librarian’s Professional Certification is required with completed application.)

** Compensation:**

The position offers a hiring salary between $55,000-65,000 commensurate with experience plus benefits.
