Oxford College seeks a visionary leader and collaborator for the position of Library Director. This beautiful tree-lined campus is located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory's original campus in Oxford, Georgia. Its library serves as a dynamic cultural and academic center. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Full Librarian.
The Director is a member of the Oxford Leadership Team and supervises administrative and professional staff. Responsible for College and University educational and research missions, the Director will oversee the overall management of a specialty library's operations, facilities and services, and the development and implementation of annual operational plans as well as strategic planning, evaluation and assessment, budgeting and external relations.
Reporting to the Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to Emory University's Associate Vice Provost and University Librarian, the Director will guide the strategic direction and operational excellence of the Oxford College Library. Additionally, as a member of the Cabinet and Senior Management Team for Emory Libraries, the Director will partner with the University to provide oversight of Emory Libraries services, policies and programs including assessment, fiscal and resource allocation, and exhibitions.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 12 years of professional librarian experience with sustained, meaningful contributions in leadership, service, professional development, and scholarship.
- Master of Library Science or an equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
- 5-10 years supervising and managing library operations and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Academic Library Experience preferred.
- Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, with proven experience creating welcoming and accessible library services for students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation, low-income, multilingual, and international students.
- Dedicated leadership experience in a complex organization, with a proven track record of fostering a team-oriented and supportive environment where librarians and library staff feel valued, empowered, and have opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Expertise actively advocating for and providing campus community-centered services, resources, and spaces dedicated to supporting the research needs of faculty, staff, and students.
- Previous experience in implementing mentoring programs and professional development opportunities, leading to increased employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting librarians and library staff in their career advancement goals, providing guidance and mentorship through promotion processes.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the library's mission and the university's overall goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with instruction, information literacy, and assessment of library services and resources.
- Evidence of active participation, involvement, and leadership in local, state, regional, national, or international professional or scholarly associations.
- Experience managing operational budgets.
