Job Description: The Coordinator of Library Services, Collections oversees technical services for the library, including acquisitions, cataloging, and interlibrary loan. This librarian maintains the library collections and catalog and manages collection development and acquisitions for print and digital books. The librarian is responsible for interlibrary loan, completing requests through state and global consortia. Additionally, the librarian provides reference and research support both in-person and through virtual reference initiatives. This librarian is expected to think critically in analyzing problems and developing resourceful solutions and manage a complex workload, prioritizing tasks and completing work on time with minimum supervision. This position reports to the Dean of the Library, Learning Commons, and Tutoring and Academic Support Center.

Specific Duties: •Catalog all items for the library's collections, working with staff from the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE), BHCC's library consortium.   •Coordinate collection development and oversees acquisitions for both print and digital books. •Oversee all interlibrary loan, through both the Commonwealth Catalog and OCLC Worldshare.    •Manage collection projects, like weeding, inventory, and shelf shifting. •Catalog non-traditional items for the library's growing Library of Things collection. •Provide reference and research support virtually and in person, including shifts at the Research Desk. •Provide reference coverage for real time chat reference services, using such platforms as LibAnswers, a shared library reference email account, and other platforms or channels. •Serve as library liaison to multiple college departments and programs. •Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements: •A Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA- accredited program or equivalent. •At least 5 years of related library experience associated with technical services. •Experience in cataloging and maintaining a library catalog. •Experience in managing acquisitions of print and digital books. •Experience with interlibrary loan. •Demonstrated expertise in conducting reference consultations and familiarity with academic research reference sources: databases, integrated library systems, and research tools. •Capacity for working enthusiastically, flexibly, and creatively in a student-centered environment. •Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively and inclusively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students. •Familiarity with current trends in academic library information systems, community colleges, and higher education.

Salary Notes

Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
