Hudson County Community College (HCCC), seeks a Part Time Librarian to join it's winning team. HCCC serves more than 20,000 credit and non-credit students annually. The College offers more than 90 degree and certificate programs, including award-winning English as a Second Language; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management; Nursing and Health Professions; and Humanities and Social Sciences. The HCCC Culinary/Hospitality Management program was ranked number six in the U.S. by Best Choice Schools. The College's School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development offers cutting-edge, industry-recognized, stackable credentials in alignment with high-priority workforce needs.

HCCC has two campus Libraries that provide welcoming common spaces that encourage exploration, creation, and collaboration between students, faculty, and the community. The Glen Gabert Library is located on the Journal Square campus and the North Hudson Campus Library is located in Union City. The libraries offer a variety of digital technology that provide pathways to learning and offer student support and faculty research.

HCCC has partnerships with major four-year colleges and universities in the greater New Jersey-New York area and beyond, accommodating seamless transfer of credits for further undergraduate and graduate education.

Summary of Duties

Position Summary / Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Library Technology, the Part Time Librarian responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing technical support to library patrons and staff.
  • Troubleshooting common computer and peripherals issues at the library.
  • Performing a wide array of clerical and library paraprofessional duties, such as circulating library materials, answering general questions from patrons.
  • Working on projects related to the library's integrated library system and other platforms.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.Qualifications

Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School diploma.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related technical work experiences.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows & Office, network connection, and a wide range of software.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable customer service skills and proven success working in a collaborative setting.Preferred qualifications
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with library systems and products.
  • Flexibility in hours. Specific hours to be determined according to Library service needs and in consultation with the successful candidate.
  • Available to work at either Journal Square or North Hudson campus.
