Library Assistant/Librarian I, Youth Services, Nevins Memorial Library The Nevins Library located in Methuen, MA is seeking an energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic person who enjoys working with youth (ages 0-18) and their adult caregivers in the Youth Services Department. The Library serves a diverse population of approximately, 50,000 in a NH border community. This person will plan and present programming for ages 0-18 and adult caregivers (as needed), provide Youth Services Desk coverage to include reference and reader’s advisory tasks, as well as help maintain a neat, inviting public space.

Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with preschool and/or elementary children in a library or school setting.
  • Able to work with a diverse population, while respecting people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Committed to excellent customer service, with the ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a busy environment.
  • Familiarity with working in a technology-oriented environment.
  • Strong teamwork, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language (especially Spanish) is preferred.
  • Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week, including day and evening shifts, as well as rotating Saturdays.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, current MLIS students are encouraged to apply. Salary: $21.00-$24.00 per hour, salary and job title commensurate with experience and education.
