LIBRARY ASSISTANT III

Job Summary This position performs a wide range of complex services that support the daily operations of the Interlibrary Loan Department and extend access to the collections of the UWM Libraries. It is primarily responsible for retrieving and processing lending requests by other libraries, and it also provides back-up support for borrowing materials on behalf of the UWM students and faculty. The position hires, trains, and guides student employees. The libraries are committed to providing the necessary training and support for the employee to perform at a high level.

The position reports to the Head of Interlibrary Loan.

Salary: $17.20 ($35,776) -$19.50 ($40,560)

The University of Wisconsin System offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees, including health insurance and employer contribution to retirement. Paid leave benefits for this 12-month appointment include 104 hours vacation for the first 5 years, 5-hours Sick Leave earned per pay period, 36 hours personal holiday, and 72 hours legal holiday. Leave is granted on a calendar year. Depending on the start date and percentage of appointments, leave may be pro-rated.

Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree • Experience using resource sharing systems (preferably ILLiad, OCLC WorldShare, RapidILL, etc) • Experience with Ex Libris Alma or other library management system • Knowledge of interlibrary loan practices and copyright guidelines • Evidence of ability to work flexibly in a team environment as well as independently • Evidence of excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, research and organizational skills • Evidence of experience hiring, training, and guiding student employees • Evidence of ability to prioritize work and recognize workflow and system performance issue
