Library Assistant

The Town of East Haddam is seeking a customer-oriented Library Assistant to help provide a welcoming environment for our patrons of all ages, including children. The Library Assistant will be responsible for staffing the adult or children's circulation desks and performing various circulation and shelving functions including checking out materials for patrons, answering phone calls, and assisting patrons with basic reference and technology questions. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service and computer skills including basic web updates, being a team player and enjoying learning new things. Public library experience and familiarity with Sierra are a plus.

This is a part-time 20-hour per week position with some evening hours and an occasional Saturday morning. The staff person will work mainly at the Rathbun Library, but may be rotated to the East Haddam Free Public Library in Moodus if needed. Rate of pay is $18.50 per hour with no benefits.
