Nature of Work

The purpose of the class is to supervise, schedule and evaluate library staff and functions in adult services. The class is responsible for supervision, planning, and managing of library functions such as collection development, reference services, readers’ advisory, programming and outreach in the community. This position also serves as librarian-in-charge during evenings and weekend assignments. The class works within broad policy and organizational guidelines, independently plans and implements projects; and reports progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a master’s degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association with three (3) years of progressively responsible related library experience including a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Requires strong computer and internet skills, experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e.: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint), and practical experience with social media and mobile devices and their applications.

Requires strong customer service, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.

It may require occasional working outside regular business hours.

Education/Qualifications:
