Description

  • Performs professional librarian duties in an academic environment.
  • Provides reference services via text or other emerging technologies and at the information/reference desk to assist library users.
  • Prepares online and other formatted resources to support student learning.
  • Prepares for and provides classroom and individual instruction to demonstrate the use of library resources, online databases, and the internet. This may include working with classroom faculty to develop curricular objectives, create online library-related resources and instructional materials, and delivering appropriate information literacy instruction.
  • Develops collections in subject areas assigned by supervisor, which includes serving as library liaison in assigned discipline department to collaborate with faculty in building collections and resources to support student learning.
  • Represents the library on college and District committees as assigned. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited program.
  • Knowledge of using and developing library research tools and resources, both online and in other formats. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom teaching skills. 
  • Skill in using personal computer and associated software (e.g. Microsoft Office). 
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation and have excellent multi-tasking skills. 
  • Ability to interact collegially with a multicultural faculty, staff, students, and community. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 


Preferred:

  • Experienced working library technology issues using vendor products like Springshare, EBSCO.
  • Skilled in library areas like ILL, Acquisitions, Customer Service.
  • Developed innovative projects.
  • Familiarity with statistics for library resources.
  • Possess knowledge of authentication systems like CAS or OpenAthens and resolving off-campus access issues.
  • Pursues professional development.
