Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) Library is in search of a team member to serve as our Open Educational Resources (OER) Librarian. The ideal candidate possesses digital and instructional expertise to support our mission to enhance learning experiences for our students. We provide contextualized information literacy instruction, share reference responsibilities (in person and online), and seamlessly integrate library resources and services throughout our students' learning environments.

This faculty position will assist discipline faculty with discovering, curating, and creating OERs for use in their classes. Additionally, this position will require video and screen capture software production knowledge and expertise to create videos for the Library.

Essential FunctionsServes as the OER Champion for EMCC

  • Develops and sustains strategic partnerships and effective working relationships with campus stakeholders to promote the use of OER and affordable course content.
  • Guides faculty in the discovery, dissemination, and assessment of OER.
  • Uses technology to create online learning resources including videos, digital learning objects, and LibGuides.
  • Provides leadership and management of digital library instructional resources.
  • Provides reference assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community members both in person at the library consultation desk and online through the Ask a Librarian service.
  • Collaborates with discipline faculty to design, deliver, and assess contextualized information literacy instruction in a variety of modalities.
  • Participates in division, college, and district meetings, committees, and projects. Supports the mission of the college by engaging with the broader campus community.
  • Participates collaboratively in ad hoc workgroups and assists with special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned commensurate with the position.Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree or higher from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) is required.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) years' experience providing professional in-person and/or virtual reference services, preferably in an academic library

B. Experience with OER principles, curation, platforms, and Creative Commons licensing

C. Experience creating engaging online resources that can be used with learning management systems (Canvas, BlackBoard, WebCT, etc.)

D. Experience teaching, lesson planning, and assessing student learning outcomes

E. Experience working with diverse users with varying levels of information literacy skills to make research understandable
