HCCC OVERVIEW

Hudson County Community College (HCCC), seeks a Librarian to join its winning team. HCCC serves more than 20,000 credit and non-credit students annually. The College offers more than 90 degree and certificate programs, including award-winning English as a Second Language; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management; Nursing and Health Professions; and Humanities and Social Sciences. The HCCC Culinary/Hospitality Management program was ranked number six in the U.S. by Best Choice Schools. The College's School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development offers cutting-edge, industry-recognized, stackable credentials in alignment with high-priority workforce needs.

HCCC has two campus Libraries that provide welcoming common spaces that encourage exploration, creation, and collaboration between students, faculty, and the community. The Glen Gabert Library is located on the Journal Square campus and the North Hudson Campus Library is located in Union City. The libraries offer a variety of digital technology that provide pathways to learning and offer student support and faculty research.

HCCC has partnerships with major four-year colleges and universities in the greater New Jersey-New York area and beyond, accommodating seamless transfer of credits for further undergraduate and graduate education.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, theLibrarianisresponsibleforarangeofprofessionaldutiesincludingprovidingreferenceservices,developing collection in collaboration with faculty, instructing in the use of information literacy and technologies, creating instructional materials, working collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals. The Librarian plans, designs and delivers instruction to students, faculty and staff in various modalities and prepares bibliographic guides to resources as assigned. The Librarian may be called upon to oversee support staff and student workers in library operations including night and weekend service to ensure quality patron service.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science from an A.L.A. accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2)years professional experience in an academic library, with an emphasis in instruction; OR
• Forrecentlibraryschoolgraduates,aspecializationinlibraryinstructionand/or academic librarianship.
• Available to work evenings and weekends at either the Union City or Jersey City campus if necessary.
• Demonstratedexperienceutilizingcurrentlibrarytechnologies,suchasintegratedlibrarysystems,library servicesplatforms,discoveryservices,onlinecatalogs,onlinedatabases,andinternetresources.
• Demonstratedknowledgeofinformationliteracystrategies,methodologies,trendsandpractice within academic libraries.
• Excellent technical, oral and written communication skills.
• Strongserviceorientation,goodpeopleskillsandcommitmenttopublicserviceexcellence.
• Candidatemusthavesensitivitytoandun derstandingofthediverseacademic,socioeconomic,cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of current instructional pedagogy involving student engagement through active learning and in conjunction with established student learning outcomes.
• Knowledge and/or experience in cataloging and library systems.
• Experience with OER and/orknowledgeofcopyright,permissions,fairuseandappropriateattributionofCC licensed materials.
• Experience using Spring share library technology tools.
