**Information Technology – User Support Assistant – Hourly **

The Urbana Free Library is seeking a self-motivated individual to provide customer service-oriented, tier-one technical support for all information technology end-users (Library staff and patrons). Duties include performing diagnostics, resolving basic hardware and software problems, and performing technical tasks such as installing, configuring, and upgrading hardware and software. The ideal candidate should have one year of directly related work experience (or coursework) and strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The wage range is $19.6203-$21.5818 per hour. The schedule averages 15 hours/week.

Job Functions: Performing diagnostics; resolving basic hardware and software problems; performing technical tasks, such as installing, configuring, and upgrading software; installing, upgrading, and replacing computer systems and peripherals; assisting with preparing end-of-life equipment for recycling or disposal; conducting and maintaining an inventory of Library hardware and software; training Library staff in the operation of Library hardware and software; creating documentation for end-users; performing other related job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Computer hardware and software skills in MS Windows environment; dependability and honesty; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills; strong customer service focus; ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines; ability to work independently without close supervision; ability to work patiently with groups and individuals; occasionally work hours outside of regular schedule for upgrades/emergencies.

Education and Experience Requirements: One (1) year of directly related work experience in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining personal computers or college coursework in information technology (or related field); proficiency with standard desktop software applications.
