Description

The University of Kentucky Libraries is vital to fulfilling the goals of enhancing and expanding the university’s research enterprise, and we are looking for a faculty librarian to serve as a Health Sciences Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement, the Health Sciences Librarian will collaborate with the Health Sciences Team to provide library services to various Medical Center Library (MCL) user groups. This position is housed in the Medical Center Library which supports the education, research, patient care, and clinical programs in the UK’s healthcare enterprise. The MCL supports students, faculty, and researchers in the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, and the UK HealthCare (UKHC) enterprise, which includes Chandler Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Markey Cancer Center, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, affiliate hospitals, and the expansion of the clinical programs and new ambulatory care centers.

Responsibilities
Provide instruction mapped to appropriate standards through workshops, course sessions, online modules, and research guides.
Apply knowledge of evidence-based healthcare to support and conduct literature searches, systematic reviews, and other advanced searches.
Participate with other librarians and staff in providing research assistance and consultations for all MCL users.
Serve as library liaison to one or more MCL user groups in our team-based liaison program.
Collaborate and consult with faculty, residents, fellows, nurses, students, staff, and clinicians on topics such as finding quality evidence, finding and using data, data management and sharing, evidence syntheses, evidence appraisal, and the research lifecycle.
Provide services related to scholarly communication, including copyright, research impact, research data management, open educational resources, and open access
Work with researchers to identify collaborators, partners, and research opportunities.
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends in health sciences librarianship.
Participates in faculty governance and other shared leadership opportunities.



Requirements

ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
Demonstrated knowledge of health sciences resources and scholarly communication issues
Ability to work in an environment of teamwork and cooperation; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably, orally and in writing; and manage time effectively
Proven ability to establish strong rapport, build partnerships, and work collaboratively with library and teaching faculty, as well as clinicians and researchers in a team environment
