Librarian (Full Time) - Reference/Adult Services Department

Utica Public Library is looking to hire a new member of its Reference/Adult Services Department in an active and vibrant urban public library. Prospective candidates should enjoy working with a diverse population and delivering high quality customer service with tact, courtesy and professionalism to all users of the library – both on-site and in the community. 

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES (illustrative) **

• Provide Reference service at the Reference Desk in person, by phone and e-mail.
• Assist patrons using the public computer lab, including help with mobile printing and patrons’ personal devices
• Collection Maintenance and Development of circulating and reference collections.
• Statistics and Record Keeping.
• Instruct patrons in formal and informal settings on the use of library materials and technology.
• Participate in outreach services, such as information tables at area events and book club facilitation.
• Work with colleagues on development and promotion of public programming.
• Attend conferences, workshops and seminars to continue professional development.
• Serve on committees and working groups as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

**WORK SCHEDULE: **

37.5 hours per week; combination of daytime, evening and Saturday hours PAY RANGE: $43,000-$48,000 Annually, Depending on qualifications

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: **

MLS/MSIS or equivalent from an ALA Accredited Library School 

NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate

Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues 

Commitment to customer-centered, quality public library service

Excellent communication skills
