Description

Torreyson Library at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) is seeking enterprising, innovative, and collaborative individuals to fill two (2) tenure track reference and instruction library faculty positions. The successful candidates will be active members of the library instruction team and will take part in reference services. Additionally, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to explore areas of emphasis depending on their interests and the needs for the library. Currently the library has needs in public services and technical services.

 

These will be tenure-track library faculty appointments with salaries of $55,000.  Such appointments have expectations for service and scholarship, in addition to librarianship. All personnel appointed to the library faculty must hold the appropriate terminal degree, a master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association.  For more information, please see the UCA Faculty Handbook (https://uca.edu/go/facultyhandbook).

 

These positions are governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

 

Responsibilities

  •        Provide in-person and remote reference.
  •        Provide in-person and remote instruction and information literacy services.
  •        Assist in other library services which may include collections, technical, public, technology or digital services depending on interest and need.
  •        Create and maintain library research guides and FAQs, utilizing LibGuides and LibAnswers.
  •        Participate in identifying and addressing accessibility issues and reaching underserved communities.
  •        Participate in the management of physical library spaces.
  •        Participate in the marketing of library services across campus, including participation in social media activities.
  •        Keep current with changing and emerging professional and research expectations, service requirements, and developments in academic libraries.
  •        Serve on library and university committees.
  •        Participate in regional, national, and international communities of practice where appropriate.
  •        Other duties may be assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience

  •        ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or similar ALA-accredited graduate degree
