Purpose of the position: To manage, develop and promote the delivery of library services within Northeast Maritime Institute and to provide academic support to Northeast Maritime Institute students in conjunction with Nautical Science and General Education Faculty members.  Assist with management of Joshua Slocum Library Collection and website.

·       Implement library and information policies and procedures

·       Develop and manage convenient, accessible library and information services

·       Prepare reports related to library and information services, technology  and media services, resources, and activities

·       Develop and maintain collections management policies and procedures

·       Perform original cataloguing and classification of print, audio-visual and electronic resources

·       Maintain the organization of library materials, entering cataloguing data into the library’s automated system

·       Ensure accurate inventory of resources

·       Respond to on-site requests for information

·       Provide interlibrary loan service for both book and audio-visual materials and maintain records

·       Assist with management of Joshua Slocum Library Collection and Website

·       Assist students with locating materials and conducting internet research for special projects

·       Collaborate with faculty members

·       Help foster positive attitudes toward learning and studying; motivate and support students’ achievement and success

Qualifications

·       Minimum Masters Degree in Library Science or related major

·       Minimum 4 years experience in library services or directors position
