The Troup-Harris Regional Library System (GA) six-member governing Board of Trustees seeks an engaging, community-oriented strategic thinker to be its next System Director.

The City of LaGrange is the headquarters of this two-county library system with three locations. Over the past eight years, our communities have invested over $16M in capital outlay, resulting in award-winning new libraries for the City of Hogansville and Harris County, and a renovated and expanded 39,000 square feet central library in LaGrange, opened in September of 2023. Through these investments, the Troup-Harris system has seen a resurgence in community engagement and patron use. In FY 2024, total circulation increased 23%, program attendance realized a 34% increase, and our number of summer reading registrants increased by 33% this past summer. The regional library system is supported by active and engaged Friends of the Library organizations.

We are looking for an experienced leader to continue our growth and to maintain our quality of service excellence in west central Georgia. The ideal candidate will be passionate about library services and will be proactive in representing the library at community events, communicating our successes to stakeholders, building strong local partnerships, and soliciting funding from local sources.

The Director will plan, implement, direct, and evaluate all areas of activity in the system, overseeing personnel and financial management for the system, developing and monitoring the library system’s budget elements, grant applications, and donations. In cooperation with the governing regional board of trustees, the Director works to solicit funding from local sources, and develops policies and plans to address the needs of the library system. In addition, the Director oversees the administration of the central library in LaGrange. The library system’s approved FY 2025 budget of $1.5M supports approximately 18.5 full-time equivalents, including an experienced regional support staff and managerial team.

Required Experience and Qualifications: -A Master of Library Science degree (MLS, MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution. -The ability to obtain a Grade 5-B certification or higher from the Georgia State Board for the Certification of Librarians. -Three or more years of full-time administrative experience in public library management.
