JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the University Librarian, this tenure track faculty librarian will have responsibility for supporting the library’s YouTube channel, electronic resource services, as well providing reference, research, and instructional services and Information Literacy (IL) programming as needed. The Digital Projects, E-Resources, & Instructional Services Librarian works in a collaborative, team-based environment to actively support students and faculty information needs.

The Digital Projects, E-Resources, & Instructional Services Librarian will work in a team environment to make all resources – whether print or electronic – accessible and available to serve both educational and leisure interests of the student body, supporting a culture of learning and use of library resources, collections, and research services using the library’s Integrated Library System, (currently OCLC), Knowledgebase, LibGuides, and other library resources. The Serials, E-Resources, & Instructional Services Librarian contributes their individual skills and experience when assisting with cataloging and records management, maintenance of the KnowledgeBase (KB), and other systems in order to support the library’s mission, values, and objectives, relying on teamwork and judgment in establishing priorities among changing and competing demands. This position is both front facing and Technical Services.

This tenure-track faculty position is also expected to be part of supporting the teaching mission of the University by actively engaging with students, playing a key role in working on Information Literacy and Outreach projects as part of the reference research and instruction section of the Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library, teaching information literacy, critical thinking, library research skills, databases, and other topics as requested by the Assessment and Instruction Librarian. This person will also work closely with other library faculty and teaching faculty to foster and encourage a culture of learning and use of library resources, collections, research and other services. This position may be required to support the embedded librarian project, by being embedded in classes as requested by the University Librarian.

Tenure track faculty librarians are expected to support the mission of the university through their work in the library; they are also expected to publish and present at conferences; and give of their time and talent through service to the university, the larger community, and the profession.

Education/Qualifications:

Master's Degree from an American Library Association accredited program, at least one year of cataloging experience and Knowledgebase management, as well as some teaching experience. Knowledge of best practices in cataloging, print and e-collection access and maintenance

Creating and maintaining course-related LibGuides to make them accessible and visible. Expertise in e-resource collection management practices and discovery systems. Some experience with major Integrated Library Systems or other automated systems Understanding of reference, research, or liaison services in an academic or research library environment. One-to-three years’ experience training, evaluating, and managing workflows, content, and teams.

Knowledge of best practices in one-shot library instruction. Knowledge of best practices in marketing the library to increase user engagement. Understanding of soft-skills to assist students improve their research
