As our Digital Communications Associate, you will earn $23.00 - $27.00 per hour depending on qualifications. This part-time position requires you to work 25 hours per week including evening and weekend hours as needed. The Digital Communications Associate plays a crucial role in creating and managing digital content across various platforms to boost patron and community engagement. This position involves crafting compelling visual marketing materials that reflect the library's brand, narrate its story, and align with its mission. Additionally, the associate will support outreach initiatives designed to connect with the community.

What You’ll Do Every Day:

  • Digital Content Creation & Management: Develop and manage engaging content for the library’s website, social media channels, email newsletter and digital signage. Design creative visual materials to enhance the library's digital presence.

  • Photography: Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos of library events, programs, and services to support marketing and communication efforts.

  • Storytelling: Utilize various formats, including photography and video, to narrate the library's story, highlighting programs, events, and community impact.

  • Website Management: Regularly update and maintain the library’s website using a Content Management System (CMS), ensuring it reflects current marketing campaigns and content. Implement design changes to improve user experience and accessibility.

  • Graphic Design: Create visually appealing graphics and promotional materials using design software. Apply graphic design skills to strengthen the library's digital and print materials.

  • Digital Analytics: Utilize analytic tools to assess the performance of the website and social media channels. Report monthly statistics, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting actionable strategies.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with all departments and team members to maintain cohesive communication and branding across all platforms, fostering a collaborative environment.

  • Trend Monitoring: Stay updated on digital communications trends and technologies to continuously improve the library’s online presence.

  • Professional Development: Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with digital design trends and tools, specifically relating to libraries. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning within the library.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in digital communications and content creation, preferably in a library or nonprofit setting.

  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) and familiarity with web content management systems; proficiency in Google Office Suite is a plus.

  • Strong photography and videography skills with experience in editing and optimizing media for digital platforms.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
