At Purdue University Libraries, where persistent innovation drives discovery and learning, the Course Reserves Coordinator serves as the libraries' main contact for Course Reserves and functional expert of Leganto and Alma. Through dedicated mentorship and training, the successful candidate will master these essential systems while fostering an environment of inclusive excellence. In this collaborative role, the Course Reserves Coordinator will: coordinate and assign reading list requests; create and maintain centralized, standardized training and documentation; recommend, implement, and assess policies, procedures and processes; prepare statistical reports; monitor reading lists and course reserve requests to ensure timely completion; host faculty trainings, including one-on-one meetings; assist with LibGuides and website updates; train staff on Course Reserve policies and practices; chair Course Reserves committee; maintain working knowledge of copyright; meet with Leganto representatives; and coordinate the scanning of book chapters for reading lists. 

This position demonstrates our commitment to student success by coordinating, engaging, and managing student assistants in the Hicks Undergraduate Library (UGRL). 

The Coordinator will interview, hire, train, schedule and supervise student assistants for the service desk, shelving, and other assignments; provide instruction in the use of reference sources, equipment, and automated information systems to library patrons; communicate and implement library policies and procedures; maintain orderly shelves and facilitate access to the library collection; maintain procedures manuals; assist with library displays, events and signage; and open and close the library as assigned. Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 4 years of library or public service experience required

Skills needed:

The successful candidate should demonstrate: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a diverse community 
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills 
  • Enthusiasm for working with students, staff, and faculty 
  • Willingness to learn about and use digital technologies and software
  • Capacity to work independently and be self-motivated.

What is nice to have:
