Description

The Collection Strategies and Analysis Librarian (CSAL) reports directly to the Associate University Librarian for Collections, Research, and Engagement Services and plays a critical role in the strategic development and management of the Kelvin Smith Library collections. The position is responsible for analyzing collection data, developing collection strategies, and ensuring that our resources meet the evolving needs of our research-intensive community. This position collaborates with research services, special collections, and acquisitions librarians, the Creation & Curation Services Division, and Case Western Reserve University libraries to effectively assess collection strengths, identify critical gaps, and budget for materials in all formats. The CSAL also represents Case Western Reserve University Libraries in OhioLINK and assists in creating and enhancing consortial and vendor arrangements.

Requirements

  1. Evidence of professional contributions publishing, creative contributions, presentations and/or professional service at the state, regional, national, or international level; notable contributions to advance librarianship and increase service to the University, and community; keeps abreast of the role and application of trends for libraries in higher education
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and transparently and foster collaborative relationships across diverse teams, committees, staff, and partners.
  3. Require knowledge of structure, organization, creation, management, dissemination, use, and curation of all forms of scholarship and information resources.
  4. Must be able to work extremely well independently and as a team member, and to assess and shift priorities in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.
  5. Must possess keen analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills that enable sound decision-making.
  6. Ability to evaluate critically and to assess existing and new information services and technologies.
  7. Understanding of, and the ability to respond effectively to, changes in teaching, learning, and research.
  8. Effective scholarly communication, instruction, research, and discovery skills.
  9. Ability to work in and contribute to an environment of inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging.
