Location: Tifton, Georgia – Serving Ben Hill, Berrien, Cook, Irwin, Tift, and Turner Counties Salary Range: $79,000.00 – $86,000.00

The Coastal Plain Regional Library Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic and visionary Library Director to lead and manage the Coastal Plain Regional Library System (CPRL). The director will oversee operations, strategic planning, financial management, and staff development across six libraries, ensuring they remain vital community hubs for education, literacy, and lifelong learning. The Library Director represents the organization at civic meetings, develops positive community partnerships while also maintaining professional certifications and leads staff and organization in a forward-moving direction.

CPRL is an affiliated library system headquartered in Tifton, Georgia, supporting six libraries across six counties. Our mission is to provide high-quality library services that meet the evolving educational and recreational needs of our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Advocacy: Represent CPRL at civic meetings, foster strong community partnerships, and advocate for library services at local, regional, and state levels.
  • Strategic & Financial Oversight: Direct operations, manage budgets, and seek outside grant opportunities to enhance library services.
  • Staff Development: Supervise and support a dedicated team of nine (9) staff members (five full-time, four part-time), ensuring professional growth and service excellence.
  • Policy & Program Development: Work with the nine (9) CPRL Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies that support the library system’s goals.
  • Service Evaluation: Assess and enhance library programs to meet community needs effectively.
  • Board & Community Engagement: Collaborate with local library boards, government agencies, and stakeholders to strengthen regional library services.

The Official Code of Georgia (O.C.G.A. § 20-5-45) further outlines the duties and responsibilities of the Library Director.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of public library experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or director role.
  • Certification: Must possess or obtain Georgia Public Library certification (G-5 level or higher) through the Secretary of State’s Office.
