Circulation Manager

Calumet City Public Library is now accepting applications for the position of Circulation Manager. The ideal candidate will be flexible, approachable, a self-starter with exceptional customer service skills, able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service. 

Under the administration of the Library Director, this position is responsible for operation of the Circulation Department. Duties include: supervising circulation clerks; creating and implementing departmental goals; scheduling departmental staff; representing the library at the system level. 

Essential skills include, but are not limited to: ability to set priorities, make decisions, and exercise discretion with patrons and staff; ability to prioritize work, meet established deadlines, and attend to detail as appropriate; basic knowledge of circulation practices, procedures and, technologies; ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with patrons and colleagues; the ability to remain calm in difficult situations and the ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry items up to twenty pounds. This is a full-time non-exempt position requiring day, evening, and one weekend per month hours. 

Position requires 3 years of public-facing library experience. Will consider a candidate with library experience.  Starting salary is $50k annually DOE plus benefits including PTO (Paid Time Off), holidays, IMRF, and insurance.
