Circulation Assistant

Position Title: Circulation Assistant

Part Time, Non-Exempt, 12-16 hours with a mix of evening, morning, and weekend shifts.

The Sugar Grove Public Library District has two openings for a Circulation Services Assistant position. This position involves handling library materials (check-in, check-out, shelve, sort, inspect), providing excellent customer service to our library patrons, utilizing various computer programs and databases, and other projects as assigned. 

The right candidates will have: 

Passion for providing excellent customer service and ability to build relationships

High attention to detail

Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Word & Excel, library database, and troubleshooting basic computer and office equipment

Ability to multi-task at a busy desk and communicate effectively

Ability to follow directions; possess initiative to find other tasks to complete if all work is done

Hours and Benefits: 

This is a part time, non-exempt position serving 12-16 hours a week with a mix of shifts including days, nights, and weekends during the Library’s operating hours. The Library is currently open Monday – Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 2pm-6pm.

Hourly salary range is between $15.00 - $18.00 per hour depending on experience. The Library offers a Health Reimbursement Account benefit of $1,700 per calendar year. This position accrues PTO and offers paid holidays. 

Qualifications:

• High School diploma required.

• One (1) year of customer service work experience preferred

• Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Office, and database management

• Ability to communicate clearly in written/spoken English

• Bilingual in English/Spanish is not required, but a plus

About the Library: 

The Sugar Grove Public Library District serves 16,114 residents including the Village of Sugar Grove, Sugar Grove Township, and some residents in Montgomery, Aurora, North Aurora, and Elburn. We are located 50 miles west of Chicago, minutes from I-88. Our facility is 26,000 square feet and was built in 2009. The Library is a member of the SWAN consortium and shares resources with 100 other member libraries.
