Children’s Services Librarian

37.5 hours per week

Rate: Starting at $20 per hour DOQ 

The La Grange Park Public Library District is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative librarian for our busy Children’s Services Department. The right candidate will love working with a diverse community in a fast-paced environment, with the skills to work independently and as a team member. We are seeking a confident, hardworking, and dedicated individual who possesses excellent customer service skills. Evening and weekend work required. Duties:

• Works public service desk, performing reference and reader’s advisory services
• Plans and implements educational and recreational programs for children
• Assists with collection management and development, as assigned
• Represents the library to the community through outreach to various organizations Assists patrons in the use of technology i.e.: computers, eReaders, phones, tablets

Qualifications:

• A master’s degree from an ALA accredited LIS program

• Minimum one year of work experience in a customer focused environment; library experience preferred

• Ability to conduct a successful reference interview and perform responsible internet searching

• Employment is contingent upon a background check

Compensation:

• Hiring salary range: Starting at $20 DOQ

• 37.5 hours per week

• Annual paid time off:  4 weeks vacation, 10 holidays, 12 sick days, 3 personal days

• Enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
