Middle Georgia Regional Library invites you to apply for the position of Montezuma Public Library Branch Manager. The Montezuma Public Library Branch Manager will lead an enthusiastic and committed staff of paraprofessionals in fulfilling the Library’s mission “to connect all people to the information necessary to improve their lives through excellent services and materials.”

MGRL seeks an experienced, responsible, creative, and enthusiastic individual who will manage a small to medium sized branch library within an Affiliate County of Middle Georgia Regional Library. The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team leader with a strong commitment to public service.

The ideal candidate for the Branch Manager position is a team-builder with a modern vision of libraries. This leader will plan for long-range library growth and administer and direct daily library operations. Of utmost importance is exceptional patron service and commitment to effective library services, programs, and technology.

Additional information:

This position works under the supervision of the Affiliate Services Coordinator and within the parameters of the strategic plan. They have broad decision-making responsibilities for routine operational matters and some decision-making responsibilities for non-routine matters.

The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of a variety of library services and activities. The position requires a high degree of flexibility to produce services that are relevant and accessible to each segment of the population that we serve. They will build community relationships and contribute to community goals.

This position will enjoy significant support to attain these goals at Middle Georgia Regional Library with an enthusiastic and committed staff of professionals, management, and paraprofessionals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Provides exceptional customer service to include reader’s advisory, patron account reconciliation, and technology assistance.
  • Maintains current in the use of library materials including technology.
  • Plans and presents and/or supervises the planning, presenting of programming for children, young adults, and adults.
  • Conducts reference interviews with patrons to address special research needs. Maintains communication with the local community to develop effective library services.
  • Provides advice and consultation to Affiliate Services Coordinator concerning the collection development policy and long-range planning.
  • Interprets, implements, and recommends library policies and procedures. Maintains accountability for all library materials and equipment.
  • Administers the Branch budget.
  • Conducts public relations programs to increase public awareness and support of library programs and services.
  • Supervises operation of the integrated automated library system.
  • Participates in professional conferences and workshops to keep informed of changes in the library field.
  • Assists in reference acquisitions work as necessary.
  • Gathers, interprets, and reports financial and usage statistics to library administration and affiliate library board.

**Supervisory Responsibilities: **

May be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of up to 3 FTE  employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with library administration and county employment policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Education, Business Management, Information Science, or a related field or four years of work experience in a public library involving exposure and engagement in reference work, circulation procedures, technical services. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
