Position Announcement and Overview
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law seeks an Associate Dean for Information Services and Law Library Director. The Associate Dean and Director will provide strategic direction and vision for the library, working collaboratively with library faculty and staff to meet the law school's educational mission through the provision and management of both traditional and novel library resources and services. The Associate Dean and Director will be a leader who can expand the ethical and appropriate use of developing technologies into the library and the law school and lead the library in contributing to the law school’s commitment to excellence in education and research. In this capacity, the Associate Dean and Director advocates for the law school and the library, develops community support, builds relationships with the central Arkansas legal community, and maintains an active working relationship with the Pulaski County Law Library Board since the law library also serves as the Pulaski County Law Library and receives funds from the county for purchasing materials for the purpose of supporting practitioners.
The Associate Dean and Director will be a tenure-track member of the law faculty.
Position Responsibilities
The Associate Dean for Information Services and Law Library Director reports to the Dean of the School of Law and is responsible for:
Overall management and direction of the law library;
Managing the library budget;
Teaching an upper-division research course and collaborating with other library faculty teaching research courses;
Teaching other courses as needed by the law school;
Participating in providing reference services; and
Developing and maintaining mechanisms to support faculty scholarship.
About the William H. Bowen School of Law
The William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was established in 1975. The Bowen School has approximately 450 full- and part-time students. It is proud of its broad range of academic partnerships, including those with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Clinton School for Public Service, and the Boozman College of Public Health, in addition to a wide range of clinical and experiential education opportunities. The school’s alumni include federal and state judges, elected officials, business leaders, corporate counsel, partners of major law firms, and dedicated public servants. The school, located next to MacArthur Park in the capital city’s downtown area, enjoys strong support from its students, alumni, and a close-knit legal community.

Requirements
Education and Experience
Applicants must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school and must possess a wide understanding of contemporary issues affecting legal education, libraries, and information technology. Applicants must also have a minimum of five years of administrative experience in a law library; a demonstrated capacity to lead library faculty and staff and to manage complex projects; broad knowledge of all law library processes, functions, and operations, including electronic library functions, new and emerging technologies that affect the library, legal research, and legal education; and experience working with a diverse population of library users.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
