Adult Services Library Associate - Bilingual Services

The McHenry Public Library District is looking for an on-site Adult Services Library Associate—Bilingual Services to over 40,000 residents in the McHenry area. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional public service in English and Spanish, including reference assistance, readers' advisory, technology support, collection management, community outreach, and programming for bilingual adult patrons of all ages. The role offers ample opportunities to participate in exciting continuing education and community events. Qualifications include:

• Associate’s degree, LTA or equivalent course work/ and previous library experience; Bachelor’s degree desirable.
• Has the fluent ability to read, write, and speak/converse in English and Spanish and can perform all duties bilingually.
• Proficient technology skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications, Google Suite applications, Internet, eReaders/tablets, online video conferencing/sharing platforms, and the ability to adapt to changing technology.
• Knowledge and appreciation of popular materials for adults.
• Understanding of the recreational and educational needs of today’s adult community.
• Ability to complete detailed work accurately, efficiently, and on time with minimal supervision.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments independently or as a team.
