We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Acquisitions Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for the acquisitions, processing, and maintenance of library materials, ensuring they are ready for public use in an efficient and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acquisitions, materials processing, vendor management, and experience using library automation systems. This is a dynamic role that requires attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and a collaborative approach to working with various teams within the library.
Duties
Material Processing:
Process a wide range of library materials
Repair damaged materials
Acquisitions and System Management:
Manage acquisitions tasks in the library's automation system, including creating and maintaining On Order records, receiving items, and creating invoices.
Utilize EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for efficient electronic ordering, receiving and invoicing of materials.
Physical & Organizational Tasks:
Organize and prioritize tasks
Lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds and move wheeled carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience:
High school diploma required; LTA (Library Technical Assistant) or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of successful work experience in a technical services or materials processing role
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of library technical services.
Familiarity with library automation systems and database management.
Experience with vendor management.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Confidence using the Microsoft 365 Applications and ability to learn the Core Technology Competencies
Effective verbal communication and good listening skills.
