Job Title: Youth Programming Librarian

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours: Part time, averaging 25 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends required.

Pay: $28.20/ hr. DOQ

The Prospect Heights Library District is looking for a collaborative and enthusiastic Youth Programming Librarian to join our Youth Services Department. This position is ideal for someone who is creative and unafraid to try new things. You will join a team of 7 dedicated Youth Services professionals.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Readers’ advisory and reference services to youth and caregivers
• Create and present monthly programs, with a focus on Youth in Grades K-5
• Collection development, including an ever-growing Graphic Novel Collection
• Outreach to schools and community events
• Serve as Person In Charge (PIC) as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

MLS or MLS in-progress preferred. Experience working with youth required. Customer service experience preferred. Bilingual in Polish, Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian a plus.

As a part-time staff member, you will participate in IMRF and receive paid time off. You will be eligible for our dental insurance after one year. Our library also offers an optional 457 retirement savings plan.
